摘要：

We examine the causal effect of working experience in multinational enterprises (MNEs) on promoting innovative entrepreneurship in China. By exploiting the deregulation of inflow foreign direct investment (FDI) policies in China, we construct a shift-share instrumental variable to capture local exposure to employment by MNEs. Combining a unique and representative enterprise survey data in China, we find a significant positive effect of Chinese entrepreneurs’ work experience in MNEs on their innovation and business performance. This confirms that the FDI spillovers foster domestic innovation through the entrepreneurial mobility channel. We further find that the mechanisms include technology and management spillovers, formalization, and knowledge transfer through outsourcing networks. The MNE-experienced entrepreneurs also engaged more in import and export and adopted more digital technologies.

楊笑寒博士現(xiàn)任香港中文大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)系研究助理教授，研究領(lǐng)域?yàn)榘l(fā)展經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)與數(shù)字經(jīng)濟(jì)。他于北京大學(xué)獲得理論經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)博士學(xué)位、環(huán)境科學(xué)和經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)學(xué)士學(xué)位。他長(zhǎng)期參與北京大學(xué)“中國(guó)企業(yè)創(chuàng)新創(chuàng)業(yè)調(diào)查（ESIEC）”與“中國(guó)小微經(jīng)營(yíng)者調(diào)查（OSOME，與螞蟻集團(tuán)合作）”等中國(guó)小微企業(yè)調(diào)研項(xiàng)目,其研究成果發(fā)表在國(guó)際期刊Management Science和China Economic Journal，并主持1項(xiàng)香港研究資助局GRF基金項(xiàng)目。在香港中文大學(xué)，他講授本科生、研究生項(xiàng)目的《數(shù)字經(jīng)濟(jì)專題》課程。他曾擔(dān)任阿里巴巴集團(tuán)機(jī)制設(shè)計(jì)與經(jīng)濟(jì)研究專員、高級(jí)數(shù)據(jù)分析師職務(wù)。
